Humans are not the only species that have spines.  In fact, every creature that has a spine needs care for it from the time it's born, and that's the point of view of veterinarian Amy Hayek.  She does chiropractic animal training programs.

Dr. Amy Hayek graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in 1986 and an MA in 1987. Following a career in university teaching, she returned to veterinary school at Colorado State University and graduated in 1998. In 2000.  she finished her certificate in veterinary acupuncture with the Chi Institute. Not feeling her education complete, she continued with a certificate in spinal manipulative therapy from the State of Wisconsin at the Healing Oasis Wellness Center and was certified by the American Veterinarian Chiropractic Association, for Advanced Chiropractic in Neurology at the Healing Oasis.  Dr. Amy worked for the USDA Centers for Epidemiology and Animal Health where she studied disease as it moved through animal populations. She has been active in private veterinary practice since 1998.

She has co-written a book on environmental influences and equine nutrition as it affects the health of the horse.

In this podcast you’ll learn about:

  • Outlooks around health, wellness, and vaccinations
  • Caring for four-legged and 2-legged friends
  • The importance of spinal care for every species with a spine
  • And MUCH more!

Will Rogers is known for saying, “It isn't what we don't know that gives us trouble, it's what we know that ain't so!” This quote is one of Bill Esteb's favorites.  The special guest on this episode of The Mile High Podcast is the founder of Patient Media and Perfect Patients.  He’s created some of the Chiropractic profession's legendary media material, approaching patient education with a beginner's mind, to grow better long-term practice members.

Bill enjoyed a wonderful childhood growing up in Olympia, Washington. A college communication class landed him an internship at a local radio station, and he found a mentor in the station newsman, who taught him about how to ask questions, conduct interviews with newsmakers, and how to write for clarity. Because of him, Bill found radio so stimulating he dropped out of college to work full time at the station.  Later, he worked at advertising jobs at two Colorado agencies and then in film production.

Soon after, he was introduced to chiropractic.  As part of his job duties, he flew to Spokane, Washington for a three-day chiropractic seminar co-taught by two incredible speakers and chiropractic visionaries. What he heard "connected the dots" and he fell in love with the principles of chiropractic.

He began his own chiropractic care about a month later, mostly as a research project. Non-symptomatic, he could tell after a month or two that his health had improved. He went on to write the Peter Graves, Russell Erhardt and Jayne Kennedy Chiropractic videos for Renaissance

In 1987 he met Dr. Michael Parrish, a Colorado Springs chiropractor who owned seven, associate-run chiropractic practices.  Soon after, he and Dr. Parrish joined with another chiropractor and launched Back Talk Systems. That's when the Report of Findings Magazette was invented.

One of the highlights of his career was addressing the February 1995 centennial graduating class at Palmer College.

In April 1999 he sold his half of the old company and started Patient Media.
Most recently he’s become interested in how to best use the Internet to spread the Chiropractic message. That has resulted in a collaboration with his Perfect Patients digital marketing business partner, Steve Anson, in Perth, Australia.

He’s written 12 Chiropractic books, documenting the many facets of the doctor/patient relationship.
He writes Chiropractic practice blog posts and each week he sends Monday Moring Motivation messages.

On this podcast you’ll discover:

  • How Bill found his way into the world of chiropractic
  • The keys to your digital and offline marketing strategy
  • The difference between having a web site and having a digital marketing strategy
  • How to communicate from the patient's point of view
  • And so much more.

Time spent with Bill Esteb discussing chiropractic is time well spent, and listening to this podcast will be time well spent as well. Enjoy.

Dr. Danielle Eaton and I share a very common quote that's one of our favorites: “Never sacrifice what matters most for what matters least.”

This is one of the areas with which chiropractors so often struggle in their practices. They have overwhelming burnout from doing all the things relative to taking care of a business and making a business grow, and they forget taking care of themselves and forget that they're the number one asset to protect in their businesses. They also forget to put their families first.  The best thing they can do to stay true their focus on optimal wellness is to make themselves the first clients and take care of their own optimal wellness.

When she found out she was pregnant with her second child, Dr. Danielle knew something needed to change in her business fast. She was already working 12 and 14-hour days, carrying her phone with her everywhere, so she’d never miss a patient call.  Meanwhile she was missing out on her first daughter’s precious early moments.

She began researching how to keep her business growing as a new mom.  Resources for women chiropractors in her position were limited…to zero. Every strategy, program and resource out there seemed to have been put together for people other than her.

She needed to be able to get the ball rolling without taking on more debt to make it happen. So, she built a way herself.  She dug into the art and science of modern marketing and running a business in the twenty-first century with the power of tools her potential clients were using every day—the internet, social media, and more.  No one out there was applying these amazing resources to hands-on practitioners’ work.

She tried and erred and learned and grew, and now she teaches hands-on practitioners all across the country how to build sustainable businesses that don’t require being on-call 24/7.

On this podcast you’ll learn:

  • The top three reasons so many chiropractors struggle with overwhelming burnout
  • Three strategies for avoiding burnout
  • Tips and advice for chiropractors who have families and want to have children in the future
  • Mistakes docs are making in marketing their practices that stop them for helping more people
  • Burnout, sustainability, practice, and marketing, so you focus on your best clients

The very special guest on this episode of The Mile High Podcast is the driving force behind Chiropractic research in Australia.  At school, Marcus was fascinated with the human body and healthcare — so much so, in fact, that when he won an award for public speaking and debating, he bought an anatomy and physiology textbook with his prize money! It was the influence of his then-girlfriend (and future wife) that motivated Marcus to enter chiropractic school.

He enrolled at Macquarie University (then the Sydney College of Chiropractic).

Before finishing at Macquarie, he received a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy from the University of New South Wales. Then, he completed a Master of Chiropractic at Macquarie. Marcus had the good fortune to be mentored by Dr John Kelly, a well-known chiropractor who taught him the value of constantly learning more and working with other practitioners to show clients the results they seek.

Marcus’ approach to care looks at healing on all levels. With an integrated model of care, we achieve remarkable results for people where other avenues have failed. Marcus seeks to uncover and understand the needs of each client with the appropriate testing, then holistically apply the best forms of therapy for a total healing blueprint.

Marcus has lectured and worked as a tutor at the Canberra Institute of Technology in Psychology. He’s provided medical science courses for the Kim Dudley College for Natural Therapists. With his additional studies in kinesiology, Marcus became an instructor in the subject. He’s even studied quantum physics and symbolism to work on an incredibly profound, holistic level with his clients.

On this podcast, you will hear about:

  • The establishment of Chiropractic Education Online as a not-for-profit to fund raise for vitalistic chiropractic endeavors.

Dr. Don Harte was introduced to the benefits of chiropractic while a young man studying to be a medical doctor. He hurt his back and making a number of attempts to heal, he discovered that chiropractic solved the problem when nothing else would. He dropped out of medical school and enrolled in chiropractic college.

He’s been serving Marin and the entire San Francisco Bay Area since 1981. Dr Don has a thriving practice The Harte of Chiropractic in Corte Madera, California. He recognizes the fact that chiropractic is totally separate and distinct from medicine, and that chiropractic is a science, an art, and a philosophy.

  • Why he switched from the dark side to the Light
  • How he deals with government intrusion
  • Why chiropractors cannot sit silent while the allopathy takes over the world and destroys lives and liberty
